DIY Italian Sunset

The Italian Sunset is almost too pretty to drink. This has made it a Pinterest and Instagram favorite, and you two can get these delicious layers at home! Despite its bold colors, this cocktail is actually on the lighter end of things in terms of sweetness. This makes it great to sip during your next outdoor party!

Ingredients:

Amaretto - any almond liqueur will do but if you want to impress, Disaronno never fails.
Orange Juice - We recommend low or no pulp to help with the smooth layered look.
Tonic Water or Club Soda - This is just a preference thing. Tonic water is a little more bitter and can add more complexity to this already impressive drink.
Grenadine - You can make this drink without it, but you’re taking out the dramatic coloring if you do.

To get the full effect of this drink you’ll want a tall skinny glass half full with ice. Absolutely no shaking or stirring before serving! (Though what your guests do after is up to them). In the glass you’ll want to carefully layer the ingredients in this order:

2 ounces Amaretto
3 ounces of orange juice
3 ounces club soda or tonic water
A dash of Grenadine (seriously, just a drop or two for color).

If you pour these carefully enough your drink will turn out a gentle sunset ombre. If you want to be extra fancy you can poor each ingredient of the back of a spoon to make sure they fall more gently, but it’s not necessary.
