What do I do when they’re not at home?

Sometimes your recipient is not conveniently at home or the office. With other gift basket companies this can make it difficult to deliver your exquisite gift to them, but not with DrinkableGifts.com! We're dedicated to making it easy for you to send luxury gifts anywhere in the world, even when your recipient is in a non-traditional place such as a cruise ship, the hospital, at school, or even at church.

When we make deliveries to special locations such as schools, churches, hotels, hospitals or other restricted offices, it is often the case that our couriers are not allowed into these facilities to deliver the gift directly to the recipient; such deliveries will be made to the reception desk and passed onto your recipient from there. Please note that while these deliveries have a very high success rate, we cannot always verify that your recipient has received the gift - especially if they don't speak English or if we do not have a working phone number for them - and we cannot be held responsible for issues that occur with the gift once it has been delivered to reception.

There are some things you, the customer, can do to help ensure a successful delivery to special locations:

  1. Make sure to provide us with a direct working, local phone number for your recipient. This will ensure that we can contact them to verify delivery.
  2. Let your recipient know to look out for a package to be delivered to reception; this way, they can make sure to communicate with the front desk about the gift's arrival and will be sure to receive it.
  3. Contact your recipient to ask about the gift once it's been delivered to reception.

 

This way, we will have the highest probability of delivering your gift directly to your recipient.


DELIVERIES TO RESIDENTIAL ADDRESSES

Please note that a residential address must include all relevant information, including the door code and the residing person’s full name. It is important to make sure that his/her name appears on the mailbox or the official resident’s name is provided in the order form. Otherwise, the delivery attempt may be unsuccessful.

In case the recipient is not at the address at the time of the delivery, generally, a delivery notice should be left at the recipient’s mailbox specifying the new delivery attempt time and date along with the shipping company’s contact details for more convenience. Normally, three delivery attempts are to be made before the gift is sent to the closest Pick Up point for further collection. Alternatively, the gift may be left at a safe place or with a concierge of the building, but only if the courier considers such option acceptable. It is worth mentioning that, in most cases, re-routing of the gift to an alternative address (e.g. recipient’s office or school) is possible, however, an additional shipping fee may apply.

DELIVERIES TO BUSINESS ADDRESSES

Please note that our couriers are often not allowed into company’s internal offices to deliver gifts directly to recipients, thus, as a rule, the delivery is made to the reception desk of the intended company. Even though these deliveries have a very high success rate, we cannot be held responsible for issues that occur with the gift once it has been delivered to the office reception desk and the company staff fails to pass all items to the intended recipient.

In order to ensure a successful delivery, besides the company’s name, full address, and a contact number, it is advisable to specify the recipient’s department name and his/her position inside the company, if known. Moreover, please make sure the delivery day does not fall on a weekend or a local public holiday, which will push the delivery to the next business day. It is worth mentioning that, in most cases, re-routing of the gift to an alternative address (e.g. residential) is possible, however, an additional shipping fee may apply.

DELIVERIES TO HOTELS

Please note that our couriers are often not allowed into the hotel facility to deliver gifts directly recipients, thus, as a rule, the gifts are delivered to the reception desk. Even though these deliveries have a very high success rate, we cannot be held responsible for issues that occur with the gift once it has been delivered to the reception and the hotel staff fails to pass all items to the intended recipient.

If delivery goes to a hotel and the recipient is not known there (i.e. the reservation was made not under the recipient's name but his/her companion), the delivery may be refused and the gift may be sent back to our warehouse. Therefore, we require to know the booking name besides the recipient's, along with the room number. Moreover, it is important to let us know the recipient’s check-in and check-out dates in order to avoid any confusion in case the delivery must be delayed for reasons beyond our control.

DELIVERIES TO HOSPITALS

Please note that our couriers are often not allowed into hospitals to deliver the gifts directly to recipients, thus, depending on the hospital’s internal policy, the packages are delivered either to the administration desk or to the department where all the incoming packages are delivered. Even though these deliveries have a very high success rate, we cannot be held responsible for issues that occur with the gift once it has been delivered to the facility and the hospital staff fails to pass all items to the intended recipient.

It is mandatory to specify whether the recipient works in the hospital (you need to provide the name of the department and the position) or if he/she is a patient there (you need to provide the name of the department and the room number). Please make sure that the gift content is appropriate for the place and the occasion (fruits, chocolates, flowers, etc.) and confirm that the recipient is known in the hospital by the provided name.

Moreover, it is advisable to know the date when your recipient is leaving the hospital in order to avoid any confusion in case the delivery must be delayed for reasons beyond our control. It is worth mentioning that, in most cases, re-routing of the gift to an alternative address (e.g. residential) is possible, however, an additional shipping fee may apply.

DELIVERIES TO SCHOOLS

It’s easy to send your gifts to teachers or students. Simply enter the name, address, and phone number of your recipient’s school, as well as their classroom number or dorm room number, into the Address field of the order form. Also, please specify in the Comments field whether the recipient is a student or a staff member. You may also wish to look into the school’s policies regarding surprise deliveries to ensure that our delivery does not interrupt class or violate school policy.

Please note that our couriers are often not allowed into these facilities to deliver the gift directly to the recipient. Thus, as a rule, such deliveries will be made to the administration desk or to the appropriate department in accordance with the school’s internal policy. The gift either will be passed onto your recipient or the recipient will be required to collect the gift therefrom. Moreover, as soon as you are notified about the pick up, we recommend that you get in touch with the recipient immediately informing him/her to place to collect the gift(s) from in order to avoid any further related issues. Even though these deliveries have a very high success rate, we cannot always verify that your recipient has received the gift. Therefore, we cannot be held responsible for issues that occur with the gift once it has been delivered to the facility and the school staff fails to pass all items to the intended recipient.

It is important to specify whether the recipient is a student (need to provide the classroom number and the faculty name) or a staff member (need to provide the position and the faculty name). You may also wish to look into the school’s policies regarding surprise deliveries or the content of the gift to ensure that our delivery does not interrupt class or violate school policy.

DELIVERIES TO CRUISE SHIPS

Please include the following information in the Address field on the order form: Cruise Ship Line, Departure Port, Cabin Number, and Reservation number. If more space is needed, please use the Comments field on our order form.

It is mandatory to specify whether the recipient works on the ship or is a guest.

 

It is worth mentioning that each cruise line has its own internal delivery policy often requiring the recipient to collect the gift. If this is the case, you will be provided with the necessary information therefore and will be required to inform the recipient about the pick up. Even though these deliveries have a very high success rate, we cannot always verify that your recipient has received the gift, given the recipient is on a cruise trip and it may be troublesome to reach him/her on the phone. Therefore, we cannot be held responsible for issues that occur with the gift once it has been delivered to the ship and the staff fails to pass all items to the intended recipient.

Moreover, it is advisable to know the date when your recipient is leaving the port in order to avoid any confusion in case the delivery must be delayed for reasons beyond our control.


DELIVERIES TO CHURCHES/TEMPLES

Please note that in order to ensure a successful delivery, the full name of the church or temple and its full address are needed. Moreover, it is important to specify whether the recipient works in the church (you need to provide the position) or is just visiting for the day of the delivery (you need to provide the name of the occasion, e.g. wedding, mass, funeral). Nevertheless, if our couriers encounter troubles with locating the recipient, the gift may be left with the church staff.

Unfortunately we cannot guarantee the exact time as deliveries are made using a courier service that has its own schedule of deliveries which we are normally unable to influence. Regardless: we will pass your request to the local courier service, so that if the time requested is possible they will do their best to meet your expectations.

DELIVERIES TO MILITARY BASES

Please note that we only have control over how long it takes to ship to the collection center for the military. Once it arrives at an APO address collection point, the military picks up the packages and takes over the transportation and delivery process. Currently the military does not offer the ability to track the packages or expedite the shipping process.

The military uses all forms of transport to move the mail, but it is not scheduled on a regular basis like FedEx or UPS. It depends on where the mail is going and also the current activity in the region. In some cases, packages are delivered in as little as one week, in other cases it takes much longer. And it can vary from week to week for the same address.

We handle a large volume of APO orders unlike many of the online companies. The reason that so many companies do not accept APO orders is that it is very time-consuming to prepare packages for APO addresses due to paperwork required by the military. They also require that we actually bring the packages to the postal service and process each package individually. We cannot arrange for daily pickups like we can with UPS, FedEx, and regular mail addresses, or just drop off a truck load of APO addressed packages. In some cases, items have to be pre-approved for shipment. However, we do this for each and every one of your APO orders because we support our troops, and are more than willing to take the extra time to ship their packages.
